Athens Sights, Sounds and Hotels
In the Plaka in Athens the central square is named Philomousou Etairias Square after the patron goddesses of the arts, The Seven Muses. Founded in 1813 the society of the Friends of the Muses was established to promote the preservation of Greek treasures and antiquities through archaeology. Today’s tourist will find a good selection of Greek jewellery, art and souvenirs in the square, as well as cafes, restaurants, nightclubs and many shops.
A visit to Athens city will be incomplete without a visit to the Athens Plaka where you will find Philomousou Etairias Square and many other interesting sites and sounds. Take a look at some of the great Athens hotels and you can choose one that is conveniently close to The Plaka.
